I was invited, on behalf of the HEALTHY FUTURES project, to the Scientific Forum and Capacity Building Workshop on Population Health Vulnerabilities to Vector-Borne Diseases organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and its Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR). The workshop took place in Geneva from 14-16 July 2015.
The Scientific Forum was organised in collaboration with the International Development Research Centre – Canada (IDRC) and Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifiques in Ivory Coast. The Capacity Building Workshop was hosted in collaboration with the IDRC.
The Forum and Workshop were part of the TDR/IDRC research initiative on Population Health Vulnerabilities to Vector-Borne Diseases. The three-day event included researchers from a number of universities, representatives from WHO, WMO, IDRC, International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and private consultation and communication companies.
The presentations provided focused on the key outputs of the HEALTHY FUTURE project:
- Presentation on the HEALTHY FUTURES Atlas and its integration and presentation of results to manage and anticipate future VBD risk in East Africa
- The metadata portal of the project
- The method we developed and results achieved in mapping risk and vulnerability in the context of VBDs and climate change
